On November 3, the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) held its 12th International Culture Festival. Under the theme “Bridging the World with Youth, Uniting Hearts Across the Globe” (以青春为桥 连世界之心), the event featured cultural elements from more than 50 countries, with interactive booths, cross-cultural costume shows, and artistic performances from multiple countries.

Booths representing various countries were neatly arranged around the venue. Chinese and foreign students stood at the booths they had designed and decorated themselves to introduce their native languages, histories, local customs, special delicacies, and traditional handmade items and other cultural items.

The stage performances opened with the Chinese dance “Beautiful China” (美丽中国). This was followed by a series of distinctive folk dances, song and dance shows as well as instrumental performances from many countries. Young people from around the world forged sincere cross-border friendships while enjoying the performances and engaging in cross-cultural dialogue.

Fiodar Stankevich, a Belarusian student, said he was delighted to present his country’s culture and traditions to friends from around the world. Fiodar further commented that this event helped him make more friends and discover the charm of diverse cultures. Dalbart Antonin Nicolas Dorian, a French student, remarked that the festival served as a bridge for cultural exchanges among young people across the globe. In his view, the event allowed him to share his homeland’s culture with a wider audience and communicate face-to-face with peers from around the world.
Now in its 12th year, BISU’s International Culture Festival has become a flagship event for people-to-people exchanges between Chinese and international communities, reflecting the university’s global outlook.
