While esteemed patrons of the arts have long used private jets to travel to events and exhibitions, a growing number of private-aviation firms are offering special packages and experiences geared toward lovers of the arts.
Take VistaJet, which launched in 2004. From dedicated art tours to globally renowned shows, the company offers a variety of experiences to clients looking to explore the art world.
“Culture is a major passion point for many of our clients,” says Matteo Atti, VistaJet’s executive vice president of marketing and innovation. “Our members value the opportunity to see some of the world’s most stunning and hard-to-access works of art, and behind-the-scenes access to major events such as Art Basel Miami.”
One partnership is with Heywood Hill, one of London’s most beloved bookshops. Clients can opt for a range of customized literary services, including the opportunity to receive a special reading list tailored to their tastes and interests, and there is a curated library of hard- and softbound books for each aircraft. In addition to a full-size kitchen and bedroom, VistaJet’s newest aircraft, the Bombardier Global 7500, offers a full wall of books (including Around the World in Eighty Days and The Great Gatsby) in its stateroom.
The VistaJet World program offers a portfolio of 15 first-of-their-kind, multi-stop adventures tailored around its members’ passions, ranging from art and design to travel and culture. The “Aerial Splendor” option brings passengers around the American Southwest to view large-scale masterworks by Robert Smithson and James Turrell, first from the air, and then up close on exclusive site visits in the company of curators and protectors.
Theater lovers are particularly well-served via the “World of Private Theater,” which incorporates behind-the-scenes tours, private boxes, backstage access to some of the world’s most beautiful concert halls, and meet-and-greets with cast members.
There’s also a “Theater in the Sky” experience, for which VistaJet has partnered with bespoke theater companies to offer private theatrical performances on board during flights.
Through its jet card membership, Jet Linx offers access to its Elevated Lifestyle program, in which participants can choose from a curated portfolio of international cultural experiences, services, and products.
The program’s partners include Meadowood Napa Valley, which offers guided tours of the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art and private tours of leading wineries such as CADE and Odette Estate; the Layan Residences by Anantara in Phuket, Thailand, which incorporates cultural tours and Thai language and cooking classes; and the Telluride Ski & Golf Resort, which provides access to the region’s popular film and bluegrass-music festivals.
Since 2016, Sentient Jet has partnered with Sotheby’s to offer bespoke experiences to its cardholders. These include private tours led by world- renowned art experts, opportunities to explore Sotheby’s global headquarters in New York, and access to wine tastings, dinners, and panel discussions at exclusive events. Sentient Jet also offers immersive experiences for audiences ranging from horse-racing fans to winter-sports aficionados.
Through JetSuite’s partnership with luxury-travel company Embark, itineraries can be customized to suit clients’ specific tastes, whether that’s access to major award ceremonies and industry after-parties, or a New York Fashion Week experience featuring entry to the most coveted runway shows, after-parties, and private shopping events, and backstage access to meet designers and celebrities.
“Today’s luxury travelers are looking for exceptional insider experiences that start the moment they step on board,” says Stephanie Chung, president of JetSuite. “Our partnership with Embark allows us to curate each itinerary based on each client’s specific tastes and preferences, and to cater to their underlying motivation for taking the trip.”
Through the Embark partnership, fans of Frank Lloyd Wright can celebrate the influential architect’s accomplishments by enjoying exclusive access to some of the most treasured works. Clients jet between sites on a luxuriously appointed aircraft from JetSuite’s fleet, visiting eight architectural masterpieces spanning 50 years of Wright’s career. Special experiences are offered at each site, including a VIP tour of New York City’s Guggenheim Museum with Wright’s grandson and apprentice, Eric Lloyd Wright.
