Brazilian music and dancing are once again taking the streets of Okinawa City by storm.
The Okinawa Kokusai (International) Carnival is coming back to Okinawa City on Nov. 23 and it’s bringing performances and carnival vibes along with it.
The two-day event will feature a parade on “Koza Gate Dori (Route 20)” a.k.a. Gate 2 Street starting at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by dance performances at music town and other locations around the area.
After dark, continue the festivities with Eisa dancing and Otaku Fest, an event dedicated to pop culture and cosplay.
On the following day, Gate 2 Festa will carry on the torch with more fun activities.
Featuring a motorcycle parade showcasing more than 100 vehicles, street basketball competitions, live music and street workouts, Gate 2 Festa will have plenty to offer for a great time. Make plans for Day 2 of Otaku Fest on this day as well.
Traffic on Gate 2 Street will be restricted between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. From on-base, a walk through Gate 2 will be a good way to enjoy the events scheduled.
This event, as in previous years, offers plenty of opportunities for a fun time and is a great way to experience the diversity of Okinawa City.
