Disneyland‘s Sleeping Beauty castle in Anaheim, California, is getting a fresh makeover for 2019, but it’s left some fans reeling.

That’s because in order to carry out the work, a wall has been placed around the castle meaning visitors no longer get access. The walls also obscure views of the front of the castle, including its moat and drawbridge.

Which kind of spoils that all-important photo most people try and take of themselves in front of the castle, a big part of the experience for some.

Instead, visitors are being directed around the castle and can enter the parks through other eye-catching attractions, but of course it’s not quite the same for visitors who were hoping to see the castle themselves.

The renovations are set to take place over a few months. Currently, there is no confirmation yet as to an exact date when the castle will re-open to the public, but the work is expected to be completed in spring 2019.

Disneyland Paris also has a Sleeping Beauty castle

The makeover itself won’t offer any drastic changes to the iconic feature, which is said to have been inspired by real-life castles across Europe.

In fact, it seems to predominantly be getting a fresh lick of paint, retaining its iconic pink towers, grey walls and bright blue roofs.

There will also reportedly be a re-roofing for the 70-foot-tall attraction to replace some of the plastic on the turrets.

Most people book their Disney trips months, sometimes up to a year, in advance so if you’ve planned a trip pre-Spring it’s likely you won’t see the castle.

However, if you were thinking of booking last-minute and the castle is an important factor for you, it’s worth looking for packages after spring 2019.

Of course for those on a budget, there’s always the Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland Paris – and the good news is that there are plenty of deals and discounts to go year-round.
