CHESSINGTON World of Adventures Resort is introducing a new attraction to the park next spring – based on the Room on the Broom book by Julia Donaldson.
The new introduction is a recreation of the much-loved children’s tale, following in the footsteps of the Resort’s Gruffalo River Ride Adventure – based on another classic by Julia Donaldson.
As the enter the attraction, families will be invited to visit the enchanted library when the stormy wind blows, sending Witch’s hat, bow and wand tumbling to the ground.
Parents and children will be tasked with searching among the trees, fields and reeds of the attraction for the witch’s lost belongings alongside Dog, Bird and Frog.
They’ll also have to watch out though for the naughty Dragon, who likes to eat ‘Witch and chips’ for his dinner.
Tim Harrison-Jones, Divisional Director at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, said of the attraction: “Following the success of The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, we are excited as we hope our guests will be, to unveil our plans for another Julia Donaldson-inspired attraction and we can’t wait to open the doors to the enchanted library next year.”
Julia Donaldson added: “It’s lovely that families will be able to enter the Room on the Broom world and enjoy the story in a new way at Chessington World of Adventures Resort.”
Guests who are particular fans of the book will also be able to stay in two themed Room on the Broom bedrooms in the Chessington Safari Hotel.
Julia’s most recent bestseller Zog has recently been turned into a TV show, set to air on BBC One on Christmas day.
The animated special is a one-off and will last for half an hour.
The animated characters will be voiced by numerous well-known names including Sir Lenny Henry, Tracey Ullman and Kit Harrington.
Last year, the big opening at Chessington was The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, where guests can join Gruffalo character Mouse on a riverboat journey through the deep dark wood.
