Guam recently won the “Best Overseas Self-driving Tour Destination” award from Ctrip, China’s leading online travel agency, according to a news release from Guam Visitors Bureau.
The island won the title because of its stunning coastal routes.
More than 25 million Ctrip users voted online, and the competition was judged by a professional panel during Ctrip’s annual travel forum on March 6 at the Shanghai Ploy Grand Theater.
This year’s event focused on self-driving tours.
“The Guam Visitors Bureau is honored and excited to accept this award for the entire island community,” agency president and CEO Nathan Denight said in the release. “Guam is a perfect self-driving destination and we are extremely proud to promote our pristine coastline, picturesque landscapes and unique cultural and historical sites to our visitors. Self-driving is probably the best way to discover all of these hidden gems. With the rising trend of self-drive travel in China, we are hopeful to welcome even more Chinese visitors.”
Ctrip was founded in 1999 in Shanghai. The company is a leading provider of travel services including accommodation reservations, transportation ticketing, packaged tours and corporate travel management, according to the news release.
